Regrettably it has been necessary for the First XV to resign from the South Lancs and Cheshire League 2. This decision has not been taken lightly but the Coaches and Senior players feel that with the unprecedented number of injuries to experienced players, and the loss of a number of senior players to other clubs, it is not possible to raise a First XV to compete at the level required in the league without putting younger and inexperienced players at risk. As a consequence of this decision the Seconds and Thirds have been excluded from the Miller Homes League under rule 20. It is hoped that where ever possible Buxton RUFC will be able to play the seconds and thirds the outstanding fixtures as friendlies. It is also intended to arrange friendly fixtures at an appropriate level for the 1st XV, with the intention of re entering the leagues next season at a level suited to the playing resources available. It is vital that we take this as an opportunity for the club, and to come out of this stronger with a better playing infrastructure in place. Training will still be on Monday and Thursday at 7.00pm up at the club, and we are still looking for new players whether they are experienced, new to the game or are returning after a few years off. As Saturday November 7th showed the club has a tremendous facility for players, social members and members of the community. We have a thriving and strong Mini and Junior set up, and the U17’s are top of their league and unbeaten so far this season. Over the next few years they will form the basis of the First XV so the future looks good.

Owing to an injury list that makes Martin Johnson’s look tiny and a number of regular players being unavailable we need to find new players or get ex players to return and start playing again. So if you fancy a go or know of anyone who wants to play get in touch, by e-mail to info@buxtonrugbyclub.com or give Simon Fussell a call on 07974138549.
Training is on Monday and Thursday at 7.00pm at Sunnyfields. There are always a number of experienced coaches on hand so what ever your level you will be welcomed and helped to improve your game.
There is also an excellent social scene, so give it a go.

Buxton RUFC is holding its first ever Bonfire night on 7th November 2009. Tickets are £2 per person or £5 for a family. Food, wine and got drinks will be available to purchase.
If anyone has any spare wood we would be greatful of it to help build the fire. However, please do not bring any wood upto the club until the Saturday morning unless it can be stored safely and securely. Otherwise we may get a premature Bonfire before the event takes place…. A lot of work has gone into getting all the necessary risk assessments and health and safety so please support the event.

Crewe & Nantwich u17 Colts : 0 Buxton u17 Colts: 34
This was fast and furious match of great attacking rugby, played in good spirit by both teams. The win ensures that Buxton remain unbeaten at the top of the league but next week they travel to face the league’s only other unbeaten team: Rossendale.
A serious leg injury in the opening minutes of this week’s game meant Crewe and Nantwich were reduced to 14 players, while play had to switch to a second pitch. But neither side let this hinder their play.

Buxton u17 Junior Colts: 34 Oldham u17 Junior Colts: 0
This was another hard fought win for Buxton, who started rather hesitantly and took time to get into their stride, before finally taking hold of the game.
Tricky weather conditions (this was the first wet and windy game of the season) did not help, and Buxton struggled to find their rhythm with too many passes going astray as the ball slipped through cold, wet hands.
